Question About Kraun KR.QD - NAS 4 Baie Gigabit

Hello,

I bought this product used:

http://www.kraun.it/pages/products/....QD&language=it

It's start and I can access it to lan, but I have a few question
first I post a picture of motherboard, so you can see the differences or not from mrt-communications product.

http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/1631/dsc17787.jpg

1) How can I force a firmware from mrt-communications? Because when I try to do, but a messages say that this firmware is not the correct vendor.

2) I have some problem to format disk, and I don't understand if the problem is the disk or nas (see attachment error)

3) the command df doesn't see any disk

4) if the problem isn't the hard disk, but the nas motherboard do you know if I can order a new one to www.mrt-communications.com ?

Attach disk error log

Regards
Dario

Hi Dario,
it is difficult to answer for me as I have never seen a MRT QUAD nas from the inside.
Hopefully you get an answer at MRT forum.
Edit: found a guide for replacing the fan in a MRT Quad nas - does this look like yours?

1) do you have a link to a firmware upgrade?
Do you have access to the serial console? I think JP1 is a MRT compatible serial port. Have a look at the unbricking guide
You could try to use "find" to locate "CheckImage.sh" which checks the firmware (thread at nas-portal)

2) Did you use this disk with this nas before?

4) you may not order a new motherboard. All these nas are manufactured in china and only branded and distributed by some companies.

Hi HWguru,

thanks for the answer, this is my opinion about this Kraun nas:

first of all I buy this nas not working from ebay, for only 40€ and the seller say to me that works before hard disk crash.

This is the problem, when I insert a Disk and try to format it, the operation goes well, the disk is really formatted, but the nas wont's star to open the other function of the nas, here below the screenshot, and also if I try to give command fdisk it seems that no disk is attached, but if i put this disk to another computer the disk is correctly formatted, pheraps the problem is the firmware damage, I wrote to Kraun support to have Kraun NAS firmware (the home page is vary bad), because I try to upload the mrt firmware (because I has already this mrt nas), but the Nas says "wrong id vendor".

1) "find" to locate "CheckImage.sh"
2) Try to upload the original firmware from Kraun and if doesn't works, try to open a RMA to Kraun for Nas replacement.
3) Try your unbricking guide

If you have other linux command to check the system, pls don't hesitate to tell me, because I'm a IT technician, but I don't in depth linux system.

Thanks for all
Regards

Dario

Hello,

yesterday I try a simple operation, change hard disk position on nas bay, and I discover that 2 of 4 bay are damaged.
the 1st and 2nt doesn't works, I mean a nas see hard disk, but command like fdisk or format hasn't effect.

On 3th and 4th slow the nas works fine, the nas load all software

So I can say the problem was on Nas Sata controller.

Thanks everybody for support

Regards
Dario

Hi Dario,
thank you for the feedback!

One hint regarding the firmware. The flash contents is not changed during normal operation, only during a firmware update.
It's like the bios of a PC.

All settings you make through the web interface are stored on the disk.
